OUR

MINISTRIES

There are many opportunities to share your talents at Church of the Advent.

If you would like more information on any of the ministries listed below or would like to join one or more, please contact our Parish Office at 516-333-0081.

Advent Kids

Do you love children; do you want to help shape their faith journey?  Then why not volunteer to be a teacher or helper with our Advent Kids program which meets in the Church immediately following the 10 a.m. service.  See Fr. Eddie or Leslie McWatt for more volunteer opportunities.

Altar Guild

Preparing the Altar for worship is one of the most important and gratifying ministries in the Church.  We set up for the weekly services as well as special services (Baptism, Funerals, Holidays) and welcome anyone who feels that they would like to join one of our rotating teams. Please contact Denash Forbes for more information.

Established in 2008, Caring For The Caregiver is an Outreach Mission of Church of the Advent which supports caregivers in their journey - be it short or long - as well as offering education and resources.  We hold four support group meetings a month at the Parish Office; two evening and two afternoon sessions.  All caregivers are welcome!  For more information please contact us at (516) 921-0755 or email: info@caringforthecaregiver.org.

Brotherhood of St. Andrew

The Brotherhood endeavors to accomplish this mission through the threefold disciplines of Prayer, Study and Service.

  • Discipline of Prayer. To pray daily for the spread of Christ's Kingdom, especially among men and youth, and for God's blessings upon the labors of the Brotherhood.

  • Discipline of Study. To study the Holy Scriptures regularly and the teachings of the Church, to attain a better understanding of how to follow Christ and bring others into his kingdom.

  • Discipline of Service. To make continuous efforts, week by week, to bring others nearer to Christ through his Church.  For more information, please contact Randolph Nimblette.
